Meta: Keeping Discuss Lively (we don't use Discord)

Hey folks, I just had an email exchange with someone who asked whether XTDB has a community Discord or other ‘live chat’ platform. The tl;dr is ‘no’.

Here’s what I wrote in response:

If you are curious about Clojure at all there is an #xtdb channel on the “Clojurians Slack” (archives here - though it looks like it hasn’t been capturing the archive for some weeks now) - but I appreciate that may be of more limited interest. We were using Zulip until last year, before we switched to focus our efforts on the Discuss forum. The hope has been that the “traditional” forum format would be more effective for organising information (keeping it discoverable!) in the long run.

Don’t worry about creating too many separate posts. I would be very happy to see Discuss used as if it were a more casual place to converse, and not just a place for formal Q&A.

Everyone should feel able to create a post that’s specifically just micro-blogging their journey and experimentation with XTDB, where you reply to yourself with updates, and give others a chance to engage - I would gladly read that and I’m sure many others would too!

Note that Discuss also has some kind of primitive ‘chat’ feature, which everyone is welcome to use for DM’ing me (at least :slightly_smiling_face:)

Most Slack channels are mirrored to Clojurians Zulip as well. Here’s the (up-to-date) Zulip mirror of the Slack #xtdb channel but you will need to signup or login to that Zulip service to read it.
