That was fun!
Thanks to @kpassapk (Lima, Peru) and @dekkers (Nijmegen, Netherlands) for showing up with a bunch of interesting topics and questions.
We didn’t record the session, but to give a brief summary, we discussed:
- The use of XTDB (v1) in OpenKat for integrating security monitoring/analytics data, where valid-time is used to generate PDF reports on cyber security for the Dutch government
- On-prem deployments of XTDB are still very important (even if it’s sometimes only for ~arbitrary reasons) - whatever we do here will probably look like Kubernetes, hopefully turn-key, and maybe with MinIO and Redpanda thrown in
- Relatedly, the tipping points and complexities of running Postgres on-prem and how XTDB would ideally be a simpler citizen to manage and scale
- The world of data viz and notebook tooling across R/Python/Clojure - also RVBBIT
- Pre-baked Grafana support for XTDB is coming soon
I’ll aim to run a similar session again on Thursday (10th Oct) at 15:00 UTC …until next time!
